Social Contribution Activities
Good corporate citizenship is part of the NEC culture,
supported by strong leadership and the commitment of
employees. Under the slogan: "Nature,
Education, Community:
The Heart of NEC",
we play a vital role in promoting activities in the
areas of Earth Conservation, Education, Social Welfare
and Arts, Culture, and Sports with a primary focus on
the communities we serve.
Since 1999, NECHK has joined NEC "Make-a-Difference
Drive" campaign - a global initiative encouraging
NEC employees worldwide to participate in their local
community activities - to make significant and meaningful
contribution to our community. Years to years, we have
actively involved in a wide and diverse range of social
services and charitable activities, providing financial
and other kinds of support to address the needs of the
less privileged members of the communities in which
we operate. Our efforts are well recognized and appreciated
by the society with the award of the
Caring Company logo presented by the Hong Kong
Council of Social Service for the 5th consecutive year
since 2002.

Global warming is a critical issue nowadays.
To increase the awareness of this issue among
staff and spread the message on environmental
conservation to our family members specially the
young generation, we have hosted a tree planting
day at the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden in
hope of re-establishing the tree covers at the
hill slope of Tai Mo Shan, the highest mountain
in Hong Kong. There were totally 60 staff and
family members joined this event. Through the
activity, we all realized that tree planting was
not an easy task and our every effort to support
the environmental protection is indispensable
to build a greener and fresher world.

Caring the community is one of the core values
of NECHK. This time, NECHK has allied with 3 other
NEC group companies and partnered with Paraplegic
& Quadriplegic Associations Ltd (P&Q)
to organize a 2-day "Wrapping Rice Dumpling
with Love" program. On the one day, our employee
volunteers and the P&Q members jointly wrapped
the rice dumplings. On the other day, we shared
these dumplings with the elderly in need. This
meaningful event not only enhanced the communication
between NEC group staff but let us learn that
there was no difference between the physical disabled
and us. In some occasions, they are even more
enthusiastic in getting the task done and more
passionate to helping people.

NECHK and 2 other NEC group companies have jointed
with Senior Citizen Home Safety Association to
organize a dinner party for 84 live-alone elderly.
During the party, volunteers and the elderly were
enthusiastically involved in the games. Having
cooperated with one another, all teams completed
the games successfully with joy. Through this
event, our employee volunteers gained valuable
experience in communicating with the elderly as
well as understanding their needs - caring is
more important than material comforts.

NECHK has cooperated with The Hong Kong Joint
Council of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped
to conduct an orienteering with mentally handicapped
youths. This orienteering is very challenging
to both employee volunteers and the youths. Through
the orienteering activities, both parties gained
invaluable experience on teamwork and built an
entire trust to each other. Moreover, we understood
that, to build an integrated community, caring
to and acceptance on people with different abilities
and backgrounds are definitely important.
